Gina Carano has not paid heed to what former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has said about her and Ronda Rousey before UFC Houston.
Earlier this year, Netflix and Jake Paul’s MVP announced that Rousey and Carano are set to return to MMA and will lock horns inside a hexagon cage on May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
This bout featuring the two pioneers of women’s MMA will be a five-round featherweight clash, headlining Netflix’s first-ever live MMA broadcast and MVP’s inaugural MMA event.
Meanwhile, Strickland, who has been a headache for the UFC PR team, went all in on the Rousey vs. Carano fight. Playing the heel as always, “Tarzan” had the following to say about “Rowdy” and “Conviction.”
Ronda Rousey’s gonna steamroll her. Ronda Rousey is an Olympian who was a multi-time world champion. Gina Carano was pretty at a time when women’s MMA sucked. I mean, it’s still not very good, but when Gina Carano was fighting, it was significantly worse. Ronda Rousey’s gonna fu**ing steamroll her, and we’re just gonna watch two middle-aged women going through menopause fight each other. I have no interest in that. Who gives a f**k?”

During the UFC Houston pre-fight presser, Strickland again went on a rant about Rousey and Carano, adding that “Conviction” “always kind of sucked” and ‘nobody gives a f*ck about the May 16 fight.‘
Gina Carano reacts to Sean Strickland’s digs: “Hurt people hurt people”
After the recent MVP presser on Tuesday, Gina Carano was asked to weigh in on Sean Strickland’s comments, and Carano killed Sean Strickland with kindness instead of firing back at his past digs.
The 43-year-old opined she doesn’t pay attention to whatever “Tarzan” has to say, but believes that the media exploits “Tarzan” for headlines, something Dana White has also highlighted recently. Carano said:
I think he’s got a little bit twisted. I don’t really pay attention to him or his words. I think they’re sadly coming from a hurt place, and hurt people hurt people. I think that he’s being exploited a bit and that pain is on full display, and you know, all you can really do is just pray for that man.”
After adding that she would pray for Strickland and believes he is hurt, which is why he lashes out at others, likely referring to the former UFC champ’s troubled childhood, although the exact meaning is open to interpretation as always, Carano added something basic that Strickland needs to understand:
I think that we should build up men to be men. But don’t you want some viking a*s women in your country? I am going to defend my house. I am going to defend my kids. I am going to defend myself at the gas station if I need to. You want your nieces and your daughters. Sean Strickland would want, too. You want to be a woman and be able to defend yourself.”
