Jon Jones has confirmed that he’s in negotiations with the UFC brass and could feature on the White House card.
Meanwhile, Dana White stated this past week that the lineup for the June 14 mega event will be announced later this week.

Although White did not previously second Jones’ desire to come out of retirement to fight on the South Lawn of the White House, it now seems like the promotion is in dire need of stars, both old and new, who can help them seize the day and make the June 14 event the biggest and best UFC event to date.

In a recent video, Jones claimed:

I’m in negotiations with the UFC about the White House thing as well. I’m a very, very, very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more time. So we will see what happens.”

If “Bones” returns, he is expected to lock horns with Alex Pereira, who most recently vacated his light heavyweight championship and moved up to 265-pounds in pursuit of three-division glory.

Ariel Helwani gives an update on the potential Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira superfight

Yesterday, Ariel Helwani claimed on his show that the Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira superfight on the White House card “is not dead yet.”

🚨 There have been talks about a potential Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira fight for the UFC White House card, per @arielhelwani 👀🔥

Helwani added that “Poatan,” who is vacating his title and moving up a division, would want to fight for the vacant/undisputed heavyweight championship or an interim belt because of the Tom Aspinall situation.

However, if neither happens, he will instead pursue something even bigger than becoming the first three-division champion in UFC history~ which is to beat Jon Jones. Helwani said:

“There have been some talks of him [Alex Pereira] fighting Jon Jones, and there have been talks of him fighting Jon Jones on the White House card. Jon Jones on the White House card is not dead.”

He added:

Alex Pereira wants to make history. Now the only thing bigger than becoming a three-division champion is being the first guy to beat Jon Jones. He wants that. If he can’t get that, he’s fighting for interim or undisputed/vacant gold. A big fight is coming for Alex Pereira.”
