A clip of Sean Strickland meeting Dana White and Hunter Campbell after his most recent win at UFC Houston is making rounds on the Internet.
Strickland has repeatedly made headlines for his outspokenness and controversial remarks on nearly every topic.
He’s become a recurring headache for the UFC PR team, and his microphone was even cut off during the UFC Houston post-fight press conference before he could take further digs at middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev and contender Nassourdine Imavov.
Sean Strickland thanks UFC CEO Dana White for not firing him
Early today, a hilarious clip surfaced online of Sean Strickland having a candid chat with Dana White and Hunter Campbell backstage after his most recent win over “Fluffy.” The first thing “Tarzan” did when he met White was thank the latter for not firing him:
Mr. White, thanks for not firing me yet. It’s really nice.”
About Campbell, Strickland told White:
Every time I do a press conference, I’m like, ‘Here we go.’ I see Hunter’s name. Hunter never calls me ‘Hey Sean, how’s your day?’ He’s always like, ‘Sean, you need to shut the f**k up.'”
The controversial UFC star also added that the moment he stops playing the heel and ‘shuts up’ during his press conferences, people will stop buying tickets to his fights.
The moment I shut the f**k up, do you think those stands would be just as full? No. People either go because they love me, or people either go because they want me to die. But either way, they are buying tickets.”
Check out Sean Strickland’s comments below:
After stopping Anthony Hernandez, who was on an eight-fight streak, Strickland has firmly placed his name back in title contention. “Tarzan” wants to fight champion Khamzat Chimaev next, and the two are already trading barbs on social media constantly.
It’ll be interesting to see if “Tarzan” gets the next title shot over Nassourdine Imavov. The two already have history, with Imavov losing their previous fight, and now “The Sniper,” who is enraged after hearing Strickland’s comments about him and the Muslim community, wants to run it back with the polarizing UFC fighter and teach him a lesson inside the octagon.
Imavov is ranked No. 2 in the middleweight division and is rumored to face “Borz” next. However, a rematch between Imavov and Strickland could act as a title eliminator, with the winner facing champion Chimaev.
