Tom Aspinall doesn’t believe Jon Jones was a “little bit shook” to get in the octagon with him.
In 2025, UFC CEO Dana White had promised fans that a showdown between then-interim champion Aspinall and then-reigning heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones was in the works. However, Jones reportedly turned down $30 million to fight the Brit. He then chose to vacate the title and retire, after which Aspinall was promoted to the undisputed status.
Although Jones stalled Aspinall’s career and refused to fight the latter, the Brit believes “Bones” was never scared of him. During a recent interview with FFTV with Grace Neutral, he said:
I don’t think he [Jon Jones] is scared of anybody. I think he wanted the right financial [amount]. But he did get offered $30 million. That’s a lot of money. I would have done it for $30 million.”

After the Tom Aspinall situation and the retirement, Jones quickly rejoined the testing pool and wanted to fight at the White House. However, the UFC denied him the opportunity to fight on June 14, soon after which “Bones” alleged that he was lowballed, due to which he could not be on the card.
Reacting to Jones’ previous tweet about the lowball claim, Aspinall backed the former and said the following during an interview with Ariel Helwani:
This is probably going to sound crazy to a lot of people listening, but why is the UFC not giving Jon the respect he deserves financially? That’s crazy to me. If anyone should be getting paid a lot in this sport, it should be Jon Jones for the stuff he’s done, and that’s me saying that… If anybody should be getting money in this sport, it’s Jon Jones. They offered him $30 million to fight him, so why not offer it again? I do not understand.”

Jon Jones issues a reminder
Earlier today, Jon Jones once again reacted to Dana White’s comments from the UFC 326 post-fight press conference, where White stated that “Bones” is retired due to severe hip arthritis and was never going to fight at the White House.
Jones has previously asked the company to release him if they think he is done, and earlier today, he seemingly took a lighthearted jab at the UFC boss by reminding him:
Random thought: Arthritis hurts, it doesn’t make you cripple. I’m still smashing 99.47% of you out there.”

“Bones” has received stem cell treatment to treat his hip condition, and Joe Rogan, who believes Jones doesn’t want to be done fighting, has confirmed the same.
Tom Aspinall returns to training
There is good news for Tom Aspinall fans and for the UFC heavyweight division. After the UFC 321 double eye poke, Aspinall’s career was in jeopardy. He got double eye surgery earlier this year and was not even cleared to train after going under the knife.

However, a few hours back, the heavyweight champion shared a sparring clip and announced to fans that he’s back in the gym and will return sooner than expected.

When the Brit returns, by law, he will face the soon-to-be-crowned interim 265-pound titleholder at UFC Freedom 250.
