Sean Brady was riding a three-fight win streak in 2025 and was Real Close to a welterweight title shot until he met Michael Morales at UFC 322.

Brady tasted defeat for the second time in his MMA career when he was TKO’d by Morales in Round 1.

During a recent sitdown with Ariel Helwani, while talking about the 2025 loss, Brady confessed that he had the best training camp before that bout and was in great shape:

I had probably the best training camp I’ve ever had in my life. It was the best I ever felt going into a fight. You can do all the right things, and you still lose. That’s why it’s such a crazy and amazing sport. Everything was going smoothly up until Thursday.”

However, there were certain situations during fight week that affected his state of mind. Follow along to learn more.

Sean Brady explains what really happened before the Michael Morales bout

Sean Brady told Ariel Helwani that he had some issues with his medicals before the UFC 322 bout, and didn’t know if he was going to be cleared by the commission to fight until Saturday evening. He said:

Up until Thursday, I essentially didn’t know I was fighting until Saturday at 5 p.m. Something was going on with my medicals, and they didn’t know if they were going to be able to get me cleared… It’s crazy because that’s the first time I’ve ever even been dropped. In training, in a fight, I’ve never hit the canvas. It’s crazy. But yeah, it was super stressful. It was a very, very weird situation. I know for a fact I’m never fighting in the state of New York again… I rolled the dice, and it didn’t work out.” [h/t: Ariel Helwani]

Sean Brady explains why the Joaquin Buckley fight is moving from the Meta Apex to New Jersey

Sean Brady was previously going to lock horns with Joaquin Buckley in the main event of a UFC Fight Night at the Meta Apex on April 25.

However, the Brady vs. Buckley bout has now been shifted to the UFC 328 card and will be a three-rounder. When explaining why the date was changed, the 33-year-old told Helwani:

[We were originally going to fight on April 25 in the main event at the Meta Apex]. And then Hunter [Campbell] actually called Lloyd a week ago and was like, “Hey, would Sean be opposed to fighting on the Prudential card in New Jersey?” And any chance I get to fight close to home, I’m taking it.”

Brady added that since the Buckley bout is no longer a headliner, it will be three rounds, and therefore there will be a “little bit of a pay cut,” but he is glad he doesn’t have to train for five rounds.
