Boxing legend Mike Tyson has provided important updates on his highly anticipated bout against Floyd Mayweather, which is expected to take place sometime next month.
On September 4, 2025, it was announced that Tyson and Mayweather have signed to lock horns in an exhibition boxing match, which is set to happen potentially on April 25. However, there have been no updates lately, leading fans to believe the fight is off the table or postponed.
2026 is already going to be a busy year for “Money,” as he is set to come out of retirement to run it back with Manny Pacquiao on September 19 at the Las Vegas Sphere. Mayweather’s 50-0 record will be on the line for the Pacquiao rematch.
Before that, Mayweather is set to face multi-time kickboxing world champion Mike Zambidis in an exhibition bout on June 27 at the OAKA Arena in Athens, Greece, titled “Battle of the Legends.”
Mayweather hasn’t confirmed whether his fight with Mike Tyson is still on after securing two more fights in 2026. However, on The Ariel Helwani Show, when Tyson was asked if the bout was still happening, he said:
That’s something I signed for already. It’s already going down. It’s gonna be going down in Africa… I believe so [that it is happening on April 25th].”
Mike Tyson reveals the Floyd Mayweather exhibition match has no weight limit and will be an eight-rounder
Despite a massive weight difference between Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, the former has said there will be no weight limit when they face off. However, to mitigate the significant weight gap, shorter rounds are expected.
It’s just free fighting, catchweight, everything. Eight [rounds] I believe.”
“Iron Mike” then revealed that the fight will take place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the “exact same ring” where the heavyweight championship boxing match between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali, billed “The Rumble in the Jungle,” took place in 1974.
“Iron” added:
It’s going to be pretty interesting. I’m looking forward to it, yes. Yes. It’s going to be in the same ring that Muhammad Ali and George Foreman were in. [The exact same ring from 1974].”
