Max Holloway is far from done after suffering one of the most lopsided losses of his MMA career.

Stepping into the Octagon at UFC 326 as the promotion’s BMF champion, ‘Blessed’ was handily defeated by former lightweight king Charles Oliveira in their 25-minute main event.

It was an undeniably frustrating loss, and one that has some fight fans speculating that Holloway’s best days may be far behind him. But despite the setback, the Oahu native has no intention of throwing in the towel on his Hall of Fame career.

“The highest of highs and the lowest of lows,” Holloway posted on Instagram following the loss. “Saturday night was not my night. Sorry to all my family, friends, and fans that I have let down. Shout out to Olivera for doing his thing. All class so nothing but love to him. No excuses from this side, and there never will be. I’ve been here before. I know the work I need to do to get back to where I wanna be. We are far from done. See you guys at the top. #blessedexpress”

Max Holloway Still Has Plenty of Options in UFC’s Lightweight Division

With Oliveira and Holloway now deadlocked at 1-1, there is always the possibility of a trilogy bout between the two. However, ‘Blessed’ likely has some work to do before earning that opportunity.

And let’s not forget, Holloway is still holding strong as the fourth-ranked contender in the lightweight division, leaving him potentially one big win away from a crack at the 155-pound crown.

What’s next for Holloway remains to be seen, but there are plenty of fresh matchups for the 36-fight veteran, including clashes with the ‘God of War’ Benoit Saint-Denis, surging fan favorite Paddy Pimblett, and Kiwi slugger Dan ‘Hangman’ Hooker.

Who would you like to see Holloway face when he makes his Octagon return?
