Ryan Garcia completely outclassed Mario Barrios in their main event clash on Saturday night to capture the WBC welterweight world title.
Nearly a year removed from his lackluster showing against Rolando Romero, ‘King Ryan’ delivered a return-to-form performance against Barrios in Las Vegas. Garcia nearly finished things in the opening round after connecting with a pair of stinging right hands, the latter of which sent Barrios crashing to the canvas.
Barriors answered the count and weathered the storm, but it quickly became apparent that he had absolutely nothing for Garcia.

Though there was nothing but dominance from Garcia, his pace noticeably slowed in the eighth round. Just before the ninth, Garcia’s trainer revealed in an interview that ‘King Ryan’ had hurt his right hand, forcing him to reduce his output and lean on his left hand.
Despite the apparent injury, Garcia still pitched a shutout through 12 rounds, securing perhaps the most lopsided victory of his career.

Official Result: Ryan Garcia def. Mario Barrios via unanimous decision (119-108, 120-107, 118-109) to win the WBC welterweight world championship.
