Justin Gaethje has confronted Daniel Cormier about the latter’s past claims that fighters will make more money under the UFC’s $7.7 billion, seven-year deal with Paramount.
Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will be headlining the first numbered event of the year, UFC 324, this weekend. This card also marks the promotion’s debut on Paramount+.
After hearing Cormier’s claims, ‘The Highlight’ was expecting a juicy payday. However, he revealed earlier this week that his pay will remain the same under the new broadcast deal.
On UFC 324 media day, the 37-year-old questioned the authenticity of Cormier’s comments regarding increased fighter pay, stating that he is not receiving a single dime more for his upcoming fight.
“I hear Daniel Cormier saying everybody is going to get paid more on this card. I’m not getting one dollar more than I would have if this deal did not happen.”
Justin Gaethje also highlighted that through 14 appearances in the UFC, he has received 14 post-fight bonuses (Fight of the Night 9 times and Performance of the Night 5 times). Yet his total bonus money has not reached $1 million.
“To have 14 bonuses and not equal up to a million dollars is not right. It’s not right. It should be a lot more than that, and I should have had opportunities to do smarter things with my money, but I don’t, and I haven’t.”

Justin Gaethje comforts Daniel Cormier for spreading misinformation
In a recent YouTube video on Daniel Cormier’s channel, Justin Gaethje confronted the former UFC double champion over his claims that fighters will be paid more. He said:
“You’re out here saying everybody is getting paid more, and you’re fu*king lying. Why would you say that? Why would you talk out of your a*s when you’ve no idea what’s happening?”
‘DC’ clarified that he never said ‘all fighters’ would receive higher pay. ‘The Highlight,’ immediately, fired back, adding:
“You said everybody. You said every single guy will be getting paid more. You’re gonna f**king throw us under the bus and make us look stupid… That’s how you lie to the people. Just like that.”

Dana White says Justin Gaethje was offered more money
On The Pat McAfee Show, Dana White claimed that Justin Gaethje was offered more money under the new broadcast, but he never responded.
“[Justin] Gaethje was offered more money, and Gaethje never responded.”
On the other hand, earlier today at the UFC 324 press conference, when Justin Gaethje was asked again about his comments on fighter pay, he shut down the reporter and said:
“I’m here to talk about fighting.”
This reply led many fans to believe that the UFC or White may have spoken to him following his earlier remarks.
