Conor McGregor Says His UFC Contract Is “Void” As PPV Era Ends, Confirms New Negotiations

Earlier today, Conor McGregor claimed that his ongoing contract with the UFC is now void, and he will be in negotiations with the promotion for a new contract next month.

After parting ways with ESPN, the UFC signed a $7.7 billion, seven-year deal with Paramount, which took effect on January 1, 2026. With that, Paramount+ became the new home for the UFC, and the promotion will make its debut on the streaming platform later this week with the first numbered event of the year, UFC 324.

This new deal ended the traditional pay-per-view model in the United States. Now, fans can watch UFC events on CBS and Paramount+ by purchasing an annual or monthly subscription.

‘The Notorious,’ who still has two fights left in his contract, recently claimed during a Roblox livestream with Caylus that since the Paramount deal has no PPV points, his ongoing contract stands essentially void. McGregor said:

“I’m going into negotiations with the UFC in February, and I’m very interested to go. They actually got a new deal with Paramount, which is worth 7.7 billion dollars. So the company has 4x its profit, and my contract essentially is void right now because there is no more pay-per-view, whereas my contract was based on pay-per-view sales. I’m the highest-generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done, I’m due a new contract.”

‘The Notorious,’ who is the UFC’s biggest draw, dominates the list of the top 10 highest-selling UFC PPVs of all time by holding 8 of those top 10 spots. Notably, the UFC 229 grudge match between McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is the only UFC fight to have over 2 million pay-per-view buys.

Conor McGregor has a potential new opponent for UFC White House Card

Conor McGregor is itching to get back inside the octagon. The Dubliner last fought at UFC 264 in 2021 opposite Dustin Poirier and snapped his leg in Round 1 of the trilogy bout.

Following recovery and rehabilitation, in 2024, at UFC 303, McGregor was slated to fight Michael Chandler. However, the bout fell through because of a toe injury that the Irishman suffered, for which he had to pull out.

For the past few months, McGregor and Chandler had verbally confirmed that they would be locking horns on June 14, when the UFC heads to the South Lawn of the White House. However, most recently, Dana White told Complex Sports that he is not interested in making this bout.

Soon after that, former UFC BMF kingpin Jorge Masvidal appeared on an interview with MMA Junkie Radio, teasing his potential comeback and only revealing that he’s preparing for something big. When asked if his next opponent could be Conor McGregor, Masvidal didn’t confirm or deny.

🚨Jorge Masvidal says he has very big fight news coming for the Fight House card 👀

"I can't really say too much, but I am training for something big. Something VERY big. I have some fight news coming soon, and it's very big news. And I can't deny or confirm [if its McGregor].… pic.twitter.com/qI0MBsCBVW
