Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano will headline Netflix’s first MMA event. The two will meet on May 16 in a hexagon cage.
This marks Netflix’s first-ever live MMA broadcast, as mentioned before, and also Jake Paul’s MVP’s inaugural MMA event, and the two pioneers of women’s MMA are set to start the era with a bang.

The bout will be contested as a featherweight clash in the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles and will be professionally sanctioned under the unified rules of MMA. Hence, fans will witness 5 x 5-minute rounds with Rousey and Carano donning 4-ounce gloves when they throw down.

Netflix subscribers will be able to stream the bout at no additional cost.

🚨 Breaking: Ronda Rousey is officially set to return to the cage this May, ending her nearly 10-year hiatus as she faces Gina Carano in a massive showdown on Netflix.

Ronda Rousey is the first female fighter signed by the UFC. She is also the inaugural UFC women’s bantamweight champion and the first woman to appear in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings. She retired from MMA in 2016 and later competed in WWE until 2023. She was also the first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.

Gina Carano, on the other hand, often called the”face of women’s MMA”, is the first woman to headline a major MMA event opposite Cris Cyborg. She retired from MMA following her first professional loss to Cyborg in 2009. After stepping away from the sport, she transitioned into acting and featured in films including Haywire, Fast and the Furious 6, and Deadpool, among many others.

“Conviction” is set to make her MMA return after 17 years, while “Rowdy” is returning to MMA after nearly a 10-year hiatus.

Through the years, a contest between Rousey and Carano was discussed but never officially materialized until now under Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.

🚨 Ronda Rousey says she reached out to Dana White to try and make the Gina Carano fight happen in the UFC but it didn’t work out

“I reached out to Dana and asked him if he’d be interested in it and it didn’t exactly work out with the UFC.”
