Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson will not fight in the boxing ring next weekend.
The former UFC champion was scheduled to be squared in the pits in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the main event of ICS Mania 1 on April 12th.
ICS Boxing issued a statement saying, “The battle on April 12 is still going on. The Undercard and the Co-Main are still going on. And Rashad Evans is fighting a new opponent.”
However, it appears that Evans will not compete in this event, with or without Jackson. Evans also issued his own statement on the matter.
“This decision was something we didn’t want to do. We knew how much our fans were looking forward to the event, and we were also looking forward to it. We ran into some unexpected challenges in the promotion.
Evans hopes to box Jackson in the future.
At their first meeting, Evans won at UFC 114 in May 2010, coaching in Season 10, before winning by unanimous decision in the non-title main event. The ultimate fighter. Evans has returned to the world of combat sports for the first time since ending his retirement in 2022, and has decided to go on to Gabriel Check for Eagle FC.
Jackson has taken action since the first round knockout loss to Feder Emelia Nenko at Bellator 237 in December 2019.
