Dustin Poirier has no intention of burying the hatchet with Conor McGregor. The two share one of the most intense rivalries in UFC history and have locked horns three times. While Conor McGregor won the first bout in 2014, Poirier emerged victorious in the next two in 2021.

UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3 ended in Round 1 after the latter snapped his leg. During the octagon interview, ‘The Notorious’, who was not happy with the unfortunate ending, unleashed fiery digs at ‘The Diamond’ and his wife, screaming that the feud is far from over and claiming that if it has to be settled outside the UFC, he is willing to do that.

While the Irishman has not entered the octagon after that loss, Poirier, after an impressive career, decided to retire last year in front of his home crowd at UFC 318. He has been enjoying retirement and now works as a desk analyst for the UFC.

Recently, ‘The Diamond’ shared a photo of himself carrying his newborn baby boy. Conor McGregor commented on the post, congratulating his former opponent.

While the comment suggested that the two have perhaps squashed the beef, Poirier recently revealed that he does not plan on forgiving the Irishman. On The Ariel Helwani Show, he quipped:

“Fu*k no, man. Fu*k Conor.”

Dustin Poirier comments on Conor McGregor’s potential UFC return and possibly not fighting Michael Chandler

Recently, Dana White dashed Michael Chandler’s long-held hopes by announcing that he is not interested in making the much-anticipated Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler bout happen anymore. Previously, both fighters had confirmed the bout verbally and expressed confidence in being part of the UFC White House Card.

After White denied Chandler the golden opportunity, Jorge Masvidal is now claiming that he is gearing up for something big, and rumors suggest that he could be taking on ‘The Notorious’ on June 14.

On the same episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Dustin Poirier commented on the difficult situation ‘Iron’ is in, especially after waiting for the McGregor fight patiently for years and still not getting it. He said:

“It sucks for Chandler, man. If you’ve been waiting years chasing this fight, and that’s the money. That’s the big fight. I wish we could still see it. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I was surprised when I saw Dana say that. I was like, ‘Damn, that was a sure thing.’.. It sucks for him, man, because so many months or years have been wasted waiting for this fight. And he’s not a young man.”

McGregor and Chandler served as opposing coaches on TUF 31 in 2023, and in 2024, they were booked to headline UFC 303. However, the bout didn’t come to fruition, as the Dubliner withdrew because of a toe injury.

When asked about who ‘The Diamond’ would prefer McGregor to face on June 14, the Louisiana native picked ‘Gambred’ over Chandler. He added:

“I think Masvidal is slicker on the feet. He can make things happen in there. I think the Chandler fight is a great matchup for Conor. I think it’s a layup.”

Poirier also added that stylistically, Chandler’s an easier matchup for Conor McGregor, while Masvidal could pose more problems.
