Conor McGregor has lauded former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski for his achievements inside and outside the octagon.
This weekend, Arlovski returned to the squared circle and dethroned heavyweight champion Ben Rothwell at BKFC KnuckleMania 6.
‘The Pitbull’ dictated the pace throughout and was ahead in every department, be it speed, timing, precision, or power. The 47-year-old busted open Rothwell’s face early on with a massive right hand.
Arlovski continued to batter Rothwell up. In Round 3, the referee had to pause the action to have Rothwell’s cut checked, after which, the 44-year-old was deemed unfit to continue, prompting the ring-side doctor to stop the bout in the third round of their trilogy.
With that, Andrei Arlovski was crowned the new BKFC heavyweight champion.
This marked Arlovski and Rothwell’s first meeting in the BKFC. Prior to this, the two had faced each other twice under different banners, with Arlovski winning both times.
Before the title fight, ‘The Pitbull’ had opened up about his battle with cancer three times and how he never gave up.
After that fight, he delivered another inspirational speech for those battling cancer right now.
Guys, people who are in the battle right now with the f**king cancer, don’t f**king give up. I’m a great f**king example. Three-time cancer survivor. Keep f***ing fighting. Life is beautiful.”
