“Borz” had previously suffered a minor foot injury. After ample recovery and rehabilitation, the Chechen-born Emirati is back in the gym and already training with Khalil Rountree Jr. and Luke Rockhold. Chimaev has also invited his close friend Tsarukyan to help him train for UFC 328.

Recently, the Armenian uploaded a clip of Chimaev in which the latter and his sparring partners were spotted playing the immensely popular battle royale game PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on Steam. For the unversed, outside the octagon, Khamzat Chimaev is a hardcore gamer who loves spending his free time grinding Dota 2, CS: GO, or PUBG.

While recording the aforementioned clip, Tsarukyan quipped:

Khamzat says, ‘Come to camp. It will be fun. Very, very, very fun.’ Absolutely amazing.”

Meanwhile, Chimaev kept his eyes glued to the screen, clearly locked into the game. While collecting loot in PUBG, he told the 29-year-old:

How else can we spend time in the evening?”

Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger discusses how training with Khamzat Chimaev feels

After being part of Khamzat Chimaev’s camp, Khalil Rountree Jr. said on the Jaxxon Podcast that training with “Borz” might be painful, but it has been an eye-opener and helped “The War Horse” understand loopholes in his own game that he plans to fix before his next UFC outing.

It was painful. There were definitely moments where I would call them humbling because they make me question certain things that I even say about myself. Sometimes I think I’m in good shape, and then I face a workout like this, and it makes me realize that there’s so much more to go. And so it’s eye-opening.”

“The War Horse” also highlighted that Chimaev has a true champion’s mentality and dedicates himself to two daily training sessions no matter what:

I think it can be commonly mistaken by a lot of people as overtraining, but the way that I see it is it’s discipline. Discipline in his daily time every day – no matter what, we’re training two times a day. And I really think that’s what makes him a champion, is that it doesn’t matter what’s going on or where he is in the world, his schedule is nonstop.”
